Lighthouse Cafe Forum
For places to
eat in Playa Blanca, the Lighthouse Café in Faro Park is one of
the locals’ favourites… and certainly one of ours! Steve and
Steph took over this popular haunt in may 2008, and pride
themselves on highest quality of home cooked British fayre.
Every chip… every roast potato… every vegetable… gravy… and pie
are all home cooked, and the visitor figures are speaking for
themselves.
Based in Faro Park, this Playa Blanca cafe is spacious, and
includes both an indoor seating area, as well as a large outdoor
terrace. This café is open seven days a week. Monday to
Saturdays it is 9am until 9pm, and Sundays are 9am until 6pm.
There is an extremely wide and varied menu, including an
extended menu for specials, and the largest range of vegetarian
meals in the resort. Friday nights are no extremely popular
since Steve and Steph started dishing up their fish and chip
supper nights. The beer batter is freshly made, and encases the
largest pieces of cod you are likely to find for miles around.
For just €8.50, you can have the cod in batter, served with hand
chipped potatoes, and mushy peas. For a euro less, there is
haddock, chips and mushy peas – again the haddock is cooked in
the excellent beer batter. Recent customers have said that the
fish and chips are better than Harry Ramsdens – a fine claim
indeed!
Sundays bring the extremely popular roast dinners – for which we
highly recommend that you book. The choice of meats is roast
chicken, roast beef and roast pork – and also lamb shank if you
pre-book. This is all served with hand prepared vegetables,
mashed potatoes, roasted potatoes, and home made Yorkshire
puddings. Even the gravy is made from scratch… which is why
Sundays are always busy at the Lighthouse Café. There is a good
range of desserts available – and if you spot the crumble on the
menu, then order yours fast – because they sell out very very
quickly.
Their all day breakfasts are beyond reproach – and at great
prices too! Just €4 can give you a breakfast with egg, bacon,
sausage, beans or tomatoes, hash brown, mushrooms, toast, and a
tea or orange juice – great value for money.
For those special occasions such as Mother’s Day, Father’s Day,
Valentine’s, Christmas Day, Easter Sunday and more – special set
menus are available at great prices – and again we recommend
that you book to ensure your seats.
A full takeaway menu is also available, for picnics on the
beach, or relaxing in your Playa Blanca villa or apartment.
Keep an eye on the Lighthouse Café over the spring and summer of
2009, as they have taken over the large unit next door… and will
be extending their business across. This enables them to service
their current clientele even more… as well as welcoming new
customers too. They have a pool table on the terrace, and
internet pods so you can keep in touch with friends and family
at home. You can also check the local bus times, which are
prominently displayed in their entrance.
Fish and chips nights, steak nights, Sunday roasts – and all of
their menu are available for you, as well as your favourite
drinks. So pop a note in your diary to visit the Lighthouse Café
– you won’t be disappointed. They also have highchairs and
booster seats for the kiddies – as well as a good children’s
menu.
To find the Lighthouse café… head into Faro Park, and it is
situated almost at the end of the row of shops on the left hand
side.
