Centro de Ocio Rubimar

Centro de Ocio ForumCentro de Ocio Menus

Restaurant – Pizzera – Casino

There is a gem of a bar in Playa Blanca, situated outside the Rubimar Shopping Centre at the Marina Rubicon. With great snacks and tapas, and a fabulous range of drinks and ice creams… this place has plenty to offer the grownups. However… it doesn’t just end there. There is also a great play area for the children, a huge range of fruit machines and games machines, and of course the inimitable Paolo himself.

This Centro de Ocio (translates to “Leisure Centre” in English) is open every single day of the year… including Christmas Day. It opens at 8:30 every morning, and stays open until late. There is plenty of parking around the corner… and it is in close proximity to the Marina itself, as well as the Rubimar shopping centre that it is attached to.

On draught, Tropical beer is available, and in bottles there is Coronita, Heineken, San Miguel, Budweiser, Dorada, Magners, Guinness and Tropical. All of your favourite spirits and mixers are available, and of course there is a great range of cocktails!! You can buy wine by the glass or the bottle… red, white or rosé.

This is absolutely the place to come and grab your ice creams to help ward off the Playa Blanca heat. There is Kalise and Nestle available… ice lollies and a wide range of soft scoop flavours too.

The menu is very varied. You can have everything from burgers to cooked breakfasts… as well as pizzas and tapas. We can highly recommend the food here as it is hearty and great value. You can even pick up a tasty hot roast chicken for just €6! See the link to the menus at the top of this page for more details and prices.

New to the Centro de Ocio are the fabulous iced coffees – Clásico, Freduccino, Mokalatte and Fondant – all made with Nescafé.

There is entertainment on Fridays and Saturdays from 8pm until 11pm – with live singing.

You can sit indoors, or grab a table on either of the two sun terraces (fantastic spot for people watching). There are two large television screens showing all the latest from Sky Sports. The bar also offers free WiFi to its customers. Just ask the bar staff for the password.

And then there is Paolo himself. He is a real character, and will make you feel very welcome. He speaks Portuguese, Spanish, English and German… and these are just the languages we have heard. He is a true entertainer himself, and will make you want to visit again and again for the laughs.

The Salon de Juegos is located between the Rubimar Shopping Centre and the Marina Rubicon, just next to the mini roundabout. We’ll see you there!

The Italian Job

The Italian Job Forum | The Italian Job Menus

A new Italian restaurant in Playa Blanca, Lanzarote opened its doors for the first time in September 2010. A familiar face is the owner… the ever popular Fabio. Fabio originated from Sophia Loren’s city of Napoli – a fact of which he is fiercely proud.

He began his restaurant career away from home back in 1995, when he was washing up in restaurants in Puerto Banus. This instilled a work ethic in him that has served him well. From there he ventured to British shores, working hard and learning as much about the trade as he could. In 2002 he opened his first restaurant, “That’s Amore”, in Chiswick, London.

In 2005 he followed the sunshine, and arrived in Lanzarote, and was best known for being the smiling face of “Made in Italy”. Made in Italy was popular, but unfortunately access for prams, pushchairs and wheelchairs was always an issue. So it was with great excitement that Playa Blanca greeted Fabio’s opening of “The Italian Job”, which offers much easier access for everyone.

This Italian restaurant is the only one in Playa Blanca now where the owner is also at the helm every single day… always with a big smile, and a very warm welcome. Fabio takes customer satisfaction extremely seriously, and people return year after year to see him, and to sample his authentic Napolitan food. Family comes first for Fabio – and this is very apparent in the way that families are treated here. Children are welcomed and encourage to try new foods, and the ambience is cosy and relaxing enough for the parents to relax during their meal.

The food is cooked in the traditional Napolitan way… with such delights as the homemade pasta from Amalfi. The “Ravioli Don Corleone”, made with scialatielli pasta is a very popular dish… so if dining later on during the day, do phone ahead and place your order. All bread and pizza dough is freshly made every single day on the premises, and Fabio sources the finest fresh ingredients to ensure that every dish is perfect.

The desserts are also homemade… profiteroles, tiramisu, pannacotta and caprese. The coffee is Italian of course, and there is a good range of Italian wines to accompany your meal. The house wines too, are Italian – so every aspect of your meal is authentic. The house red is from Sicily, and the Chardonnay is from Venice. Fabio is proud to present “Brunello de Montecino” and “Amarone della Valpolicella” for the connoisseurs amongst you. And of course, there is always Pinot Grigio available.

On draft there is Peroni, an Italian beer… and you can also enjoy Grappa, Amaretto, and Limoncello from Sorrento.

For atmosphere, Fabio and his staff are extremely attentive… explaining the menu and drinks fully for you – and you are entertained by rousing, happy Italian music.

The Italian Job provides excellent value for money, as can be seen by clicking on the link to their menus at the top of this page.

Finding The Italian Job is easy. From Playa Dorada, face the shopping centre ahead of you. If you follow the slope up the left hand side of the complex, then the restaurant is just up on the left. Alternatively, enter up the stairs through the centre of the complex, and it is situated just behind Burger King. See the map below for details.

The Italian Job is open from 12 noon until midnight every day of the week. You can eat in, or take away.

You can also contact the restaurant to book a table, or to order takeaway by telephoning (+34) 928 519 402

Restaurante de Mar

Restaurante de Mar Forum | Restaurante de Mar Sample Menus

We are very proud to include the oldest restaurant in El Golfo, Lanzarote, within this website. It was originally opened in the mid 70s, and has been serving up the finest fresh fish and meat dishes ever since. In the autumn of 2008, Restaurante de Mar was bought by Rafael and Maria – and it is very much a family run and loved restaurant. Rafa has been in the restaurant business since the mid 90s in Lanzarote, and his experience ensures that this restaurant will remain high up on people’s favourites.

El Golfo is famous for its high quality of fresh fish restaurants – and Restaurante del Mar keeps the standard consistently high.

For Rafa and Maria – their focus is on family – and making this popular restaurant welcoming, comfortable, and great value. The freshest of fish is brought in daily, and they provide a wide menu including paellas, tapas, pizzas and risottos, as well as much more too. They also offer home made cakes and desserts on specials… as well as a menu for your little ones. Look out for their daily specials too… as well as seafood from Galicia, mussels, clams, prawns, and oysters.

The views from the terrace are straight across the water, and offer a relaxing yet stunning backdrop for any lunches or evening dinners. They also stock San Miguel on draught, as well as a good number of your favourite bottled beers and drinks.

Restaurante de Mar is open Tuesdays to Sundays from 11am until 8pm – and up to 9pm during the summer months. To find the restaurant, enter El Golfo village, and it is on the right hand side up a few steps. It is one of the first restaurants that you will see.

Lighthouse Cafe, The

Lighthouse Cafe Forum | Lighthouse Cafe Menus

For places to eat in Playa Blanca, the Lighthouse Café in Faro Park is one of the locals’ favourites… and certainly one of ours! Steve and Steph took over this popular haunt in may 2008, and pride themselves on highest quality of home cooked British fayre. Every chip… every roast potato… every vegetable… gravy… and pie are all home cooked, and the visitor figures are speaking for themselves.

Based in Faro Park, this Playa Blanca cafe is spacious, and includes both an indoor seating area, as well as a large outdoor terrace. This café is open seven days a week. Monday to Saturdays it is 9am until 9pm, and Sundays are 9am until 6pm. There is an extremely wide and varied menu, including an extended menu for specials, and the largest range of vegetarian meals in the resort.

Friday nights are extremely popular since Steve and Steph started dishing up their fish and chip supper nights. The beer batter is freshly made, and encases the largest pieces of cod you are likely to find for miles around. For just €8.50, you can have the cod in batter, served with hand chipped potatoes, and mushy peas. For a euro less, there is haddock, chips and mushy peas – again the haddock is cooked in the excellent beer batter. Recent customers have said that the fish and chips are better than Harry Ramsdens – a fine claim indeed!

Sundays bring the extremely popular roast dinners – for which we highly recommend that you book. The choice of meats is roast chicken, roast beef and roast pork – and also lamb shank if you pre-book. This is all served with hand prepared vegetables, mashed potatoes, roasted potatoes, and home made Yorkshire puddings. Even the gravy is made from scratch… which is why Sundays are always busy at the Lighthouse Café. There is a good range of desserts available – and if you spot the crumble on the menu, then order yours fast – because they sell out very very quickly.

Their all day breakfasts are beyond reproach – and at great prices too! Just €4 can give you a breakfast with egg, bacon, sausage, beans or tomatoes, hash brown, mushrooms, toast, and a tea or orange juice – great value for money.

For those special occasions such as Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Valentine’s, Christmas Day, Easter Sunday and more – special set menus are available at great prices – and again we recommend that you book to ensure your seats.

A full takeaway menu is also available, for picnics on the beach, or relaxing in your Playa Blanca villa or apartment.

Keep an eye on the Lighthouse Café over the spring and summer of 2009, as they have taken over the large unit next door… and will be extending their business across. This enables them to service their current clientele even more… as well as welcoming new customers too. They have a pool table on the terrace, and internet pods so you can keep in touch with friends and family at home. You can also check the local bus times, which are prominently displayed in their entrance.

Fish and chips nights, steak nights, Sunday roasts – and all of their menu are available for you, as well as your favourite drinks. So pop a note in your diary to visit the Lighthouse Café – you won’t be disappointed. They also have highchairs and booster seats for the kiddies – as well as a good children’s menu.

To find the Lighthouse café… head into Faro Park, and it is situated almost at the end of the row of shops on the left hand side.

To book your table in advance – you can telephone 0034 616 132 102. Please mention Canary Nightlife when booking.

Le Moka

Le Moka Forum | Le Moka Menu | Le Moka Voucher

For places to eat in Faro Park, Playa Blanca, there is a gem awaiting you in the shape of Le Moka. Situated at the far end of the shops as you enter Faro Park – this café / restaurant has freshly baked goodies for you. Le Moka opened in 2007 under the ownership of Alex – a Frenchman who is now the Pastry Chef. Alex has a passion for baking, which is why Dave and Marion are very pleased that he remains on hand with his culinary skills after they purchased the café from him on June 1st 2009.

The entire baked menu such as the quiches, pies and bread are all baked on the premises… with the French pastry chef, Alex, starting in the early hours of every morning to ensure everything is fresh daily for you. The doors open at 8am daily, where Dave and Marion’s smiling faces are waiting to greet you. Just a quick glance at their mouthwatering menu, or in the glass display cabinets will have you reaching for your wallets and purses.

There is a very wide food selection encompassing sandwiches, bocadillos, burgers, tortillas, ice creams, sweet and savoury crepes, and the great home made quiches, tarts, cakes and more. Every day brings different specials, including Cornish pasties which sell out extremely quickly. We cannot stress the quality of this food enough. Absolutely everything is baked and prepared on site. The doughnuts, the cakes, the bread – everything! All the cream is fresh… no synthetic nonsense in sight.

The kids will love the ice creams… and the cakes… as will you – so throw caution to the wind and go treat yourself. Speaking of ice-creams, this is Carte D’or, and is available as cones, dessert dishes or in tubs for takeaway. Everything on the menu is available for takeaway… so you can get a picnic for the beach, or an airport pack for your journey home.

Le Moka works very closely in conjunction with The Snug next door… so if there is something you would like to drink that is not on the menu – then they can get it for you.

Dave or Marion can also provide you with a personalized birthday cake – again baked and decorated on the premises – with just 48 hours notice… and already a large number of Playa Blanca residents and businesses are spreading the word. To order your cakes – please telephone Dave and Marion on +34 618 076 297, or use the form below

Dave and Marion would like to offer you something special for your first visit to Le Moka. See the voucher link on this page for a free tea or coffee with a single food purchase of €2 or more.
