PB Restaurants-Trip Advisor
« on: August 13, 2015, 18:29:16 PM »
Been going to PB for a few years now so thought I knew the best places to eat. As we are back in PB in October, I looked at trip advisor not thinking it would tell me something I didn't already know ::). Well, out of the top 43 we have been to only two, Romantica and Plaice in the sun, the latter being third. Most of the better rated restaurants seem to be in the Marina in which we only had tapas at the café del mar (ranked 107) ::). There's one called the Titty Café ranked 109 but has unfortunately closed down.
We have always frequented Almacen, Casa Pedro, Bocaina and Brisa Marina. Almacen and Bocaina don't get a mention and the less said about Casa Pedro and Brisa Marina the better, ranked 121 and 130 respectively. In the last two, the attitudes of the managers/waiters leave something to be desired. This is an issue we have tolerated because of their prime positions and good quality seafood.
What do you think?.

Dave, Almancen del Sal and Bocaina have closed (apologies if Bocaina has re-opened - I think I remember hearing that the chef was still working, maybe privately??) which may explain why they aren't mentioned.

Our top three are currently, probably, Bodegan Las Tapas (expensive for tapas, but real quality) L'Artista, Chalenita (a couple of the guys from Almancen you'd recognise) and Petit Marmite at the Marina.  Is that four? oh it's so hard to choose  ;D

A lot of places have 'closed / re-positioned' recently because ten year leases have expired.

I knew the Bocaina had closed but had heard that it has re-opened as a Spanish restaurant. Elle says that Paul is still available to cook for take-away or even cook at your villa.
Didn't know Almacen had closed :( but good to hear about the Chalanita ;D. We are definitely going to try it this time.
Also heard good things about the Alantico so maybe try there as well.
