Los Gigantes
Puerto de Santiago, Playa de la Arena, Santiago del Teide and Los Gigantes are often grouped together under the single heading of Los Gigantes. This is because although they started as individual villages, they are now linked by holiday accommodation and built up areas.
Located on the west coast of Tenerife, the 4 villages are quite some distance from the airport… however, if a relaxing break is what you are seeking… then it is worth the extra mileage. There are plenty of bars, restaurants and cafes to choose from – with something to suit most tastes.
Puerto de Santiago was originally a small fishing village, before evolving into a tourist resort. There is plenty to do here, and it is geared towards families and couples, rather than towards large parties.
Los Gigantes itself is better known than its neighbours, and is a bit busier. It is so named, because it nestles at the base of some cliffs, which bear the same name. It is around a 30km drive from Playa de Las Americas. The views of the coast are not to be missed.
